RedSky Technologies Issued New Patent for Next Generation 9-1-1 Networks
CHICAGO – (Wednesday, January 28, 2015) RedSky Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of software solutions for E911 and emergency response, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) has issued patent number 8,918,075 B2 which expands on RedSky’s innovative Emergency Location Information Service (E-LIS) product patents.
The patent describes how emergency messages and data from wearable devices such as smartphones, smart watches, smart glasses, smart accessories and smart apparel, can be retrieved and translated into usable civic and geo-coordinate data and transmitted over legacy and Next Generation, IP-based, 9-1-1 networks to provide situational awareness to emergency responders. The patent builds on RedSky’s foundational E-LIS patents that encompass the architecture, process and system elements for receiving, storing and delivering the location data of any device on any network when the device dials or texts an emergency string like 9-1-1.
“The rapid advancement of technology in the wearable device arena has led us to the conclusion that wearable devices are going to be used in emergency situations,” says Jerry Eisner, ENP, RedSky’s Group Director of Public Safety. “This patent is a logical extension of the RedSky Horizon® E-LIS network which can take an emergency message, add geographic intelligence to it, format it and send it to emergency responders on legacy and new IP-based emergency networks (ESInets).”
“This new patent demonstrates our leadership and commitment to providing solutions for our enterprise and Department of Defense customers as they implement Unified Communications and wireless networks,” says Tony Maier, RedSky’s Chief Executive Officer. “RedSky is committed to providing a standards-based approach to Next Generation Emergency Networks that will deliver lower costs and much better situational awareness for emergency service providers.”
The RedSky Horizon® product suite and E-LIS is consistent with and compatible to the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) ‘i3’ standard, the blueprint for next generation emergency services networks for public safety.
